Sourcing & Processing
Red Rooster is proud to participate in the Regenerative Organic Alliance's (ROA) Regenerative Organic Certified® (ROC) program. ROC products take the USDA Certified Organic standard to the next level by adding important criteria and benchmarks that incorporate three major pillars of care for our planet and people into one rigorous certification.
Regenerative organics focus on:
- Soil health & land management
- Animal welfare
- Farmer & worker fairness
The ROA maintains rigorous standards that promote holistic agriculture practices. The goal is to increase soil organic matter over time, sequestering carbon below and above ground, which could be a tool to mitigate climate change; improve animal welfare; and provide economic stability and fairness for farmers, ranchers, and workers.
This specially formulated blend brings together the three top quality Regenerative Organic Certified® coffees listed below to create a delicious cup that you can feel good about.
Café Pacayal (La Paz, Honduras): This company is determined to offer excellent coffees with traceable ethical and sustainable supply chains. Café Pacayal believes in respecting human rights and the environment in all operations and promotes the care and conservation of our planet's biodiversity. Pacayal encourages innovation in production, harvesting, and processing with a special focus on supporting women producers and young farmers.
Chirinos Cooperative (Cajamarca, Peru): This co-op employs experienced agronomists who provides technical support in organic production and quality control for all of its member farmers. Chirinos uses strictly organic compost which they make themselves using a unique composting system called "gaicashi." This method produces potent, high-quality compost at a low cost and avoids the use of pesticides by controlling pests naturally.
ASPRASAR Cooperative (Bilbao, Colombia): The Asociación de Productores Agropecuarios de Santa Rosa (ASPRASAR) supports its members by obtaining and maintaining Regenerative Organic, Fairtrade Organic, and Organic certifications for all of its coffees. This co-op takes a forward thinking approach and reinvests its profits back into production and processing. ASPRASAR funds honey water treatment systems and self-made organic fertilizer production, ensuring long-term environmental and economic resilience.
